DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!! Was laid off by RLC in September 2015 due to decline in oil prices and immediately moved out of state. Since my move, I do not and have not lived within the required distance of an Anytime Fitness gym (per my contract) to continue my membership. Soon after my layoff I called the Anytime Fitness franchise home office in Houma to speak with and inform the owner/manager (name withheld) of my employment situation and to therefore cancel my membership. Because I was not able to speak with the franchise owner at that time, I left a message for her to call me back at her earliest convenience. I never received a callback. Throughout the next 10 days I called Anytime Fitness in Houma approximately 20 to 25 times before I was finally able to speak with this person. The woman claiming to be the owner told me to call the Galliano offices to cancel (because that's where i had joined) who then told me to call the Houma offices (because the owner/manager was the one to be notified of any cancellation) who then told me to call Anytime Fitness Billing about the membership cancellation (who told me they only handled billing issues NOT cancellations!). This went on for about another two weeks before I finally told the owner/manager I was done calling anyone else about my membership cancellation. It was at that time she told me the best thing I could do was to either PAY THE REMAINING BALANCE to CANCEL or TRANSFER my MEMBERSHIP to a LOCAL Anytime Fitness gym, even though I WASN'T NEAR ONE and TO THEN CANCEL my MEMBERSHIP because it would be EASIER TO DEAL WITH a LOCAL Anytime Fitness gym!! None of this made sense to me so I said I was NOT going to do that because my contract stated I could cancel once notification had been given of me not being within the required mileage from a local Anytime Fitness gym. I offered to provide proof of residence but that wasn't enough for the cancellation to be processed! Since then I have been repeatedly harassed (by phone, mail, email, rude and disrespectful collection agencies) for overdue fees and late charges that amount to more than what I would have owed if I had paid the full amount of my full membership dues!!! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT JOIN ANYTIME FITNESS IN GALLIANO OR HOUMA!!! Good luck!!
Typical Anytime Fitness gym. Music is too loud sometimes to where I cannot hear my own music. Equipment is getting old.
